Shaq trade offical like referree with a whistle (Planet Orange in SHOCK)

Common sense would tell you, PHX would change their identity a bit to cater to Shaq.

Instead of that 90% high pick and roll offense Nash and Amare run, They'll be some stationary posting/re-posting with Shaq. And he'll kick it out toNash, Bell, Barbosa etc...

This is a wait and see type ordeal. Shaq indeed looked like his mobilty, lift, and explosion were shot. But for all we know, he could've been mailing itin(though I hope not). I'll be pulling for PHX, no doubt. Going to miss the Big fella..

One thing for sure, Heaters get to rebuild ALOT sooner than expected. Can't believe this is looking to be really pulled off.

No not really.. Shaq: 2 yrs 40 mill... Marion (You have to renew his contract and to keep him in Miami is going to be costly.. Not to mention he'sabout to turn 30): 4 yrs 78 Mill *He already makes 17 a year and wanted more in Phoenix*.... and add Marcus Banks: 2 yr 8 Mill.. So it's really a pushcome money wise.. But, Miami doesn't have to resign bums like Ricky Davis, Jason Williams and Mourning is going to retire.. You'll get a 1-3 pick.. andcan probably add a Brand in the off-season.. This is a good deal for Miami as well..

Right on the money...why would you want to take on Shaq who makes much more money than Marion who has an expiring contract this year. If you didn't want tokeep this dude, then at least trade him for someone that can help you. I would've tried to get Artest instead.

as much as i love shaq (nh) i hope this trade blows up in phoenix's face

I think it's going to work ncicely for PHX. Shaq can defensive rebound and outlet pass and Nash will probe the defense and if nothing's there, wait forShaq and set it up. Hell, you can even throw Nash in that pick and roll high as he's a bigger screen to get around and Nash probably gets a layup off ofit.

Defensively, Shaq's not the same Shaq who would come from all the way on the other side of the rim and block your shot above the square, but he candefensive rebound and tiny guards and small forwards who get passed Phx's initial defenders will not be just gliding to the rim dunking and making layups. You consider the fact refs seem to hate calling defensive fouls on Shaq too (when he blocks shots he almost always bodies (belly bumps) the offensive playeroff their flight path) and that can only help. Furthermore, it's well known that having a respectable big behind you in the paint makes your perimeterdefense better. Nash, and Bell, and Barbosa will be able to get up in the guy they're guarding even more and flop, flop, flop, or just direct their man toDiesel.

I was thinking about how this trade affects the Mavs though. Dirk is probably happy to see Marion shipped out East, because he has had some horrendous daysagainst him and this leaves Phx with nobody to check him who has had any amount of success (Skinner? Diaw? Amare?), but at the same time this forces Dirk tohave to guard someone too, either Amare or Shaq. Either way, just come down and dunk on him basically. He's giving up a bucket and/or fouling.

I highly doubt they keep Marion, he's not a Riley player. Riley made this trade to get rid of some space for FA over the summer.

Watching Dirk and Amare go back and forth at each other in the playoffs would be insane. Neither one of them can guard the other. First to 50+wins.

Umm, Marion is exactly the kind of player Riley likes. He hustles, rebounds, plays defense, passes, makes free throws. What in the hell is there to not likeabout Shawn Marion other than his contract?

Marion might not even want to opt out. The destinations this offseason are going to be slim.

The Suns needed frontline help. They weren't winning anything without it. Amare is not a center and he cannot stop or limit anyone. The only way the Sunsemerge from the West is if the Spurs go down prior to facing the Suns. At least now the Suns have a chance.

Shaq's there to be a big body and to limit WC bigs.

Ouch. The Suns are 14-12 against the Western Conference.

Welcome Shaq-i-capped. Hope your healthy.

Oh crap...I just woke up, got online, and I discovered it wasn't a bad dream. This *#@% actually is happening.

Kill me now.

Yeah, and they're 4-8 against the other 7 Western Conference Playoff teams as of today...

sorry... but on the bright side GO lakers!

people fail to realize that ANY defense is better than what the suns were doing with amare at the 5 ... Amare at the 4 and Shaq at the 5? thats lethal if Shaqis anywhere near the player he was just 2 years ago ... and everyone saying hows shaq gonna run with the suns, OBVIOUSLY they are gonna change their playingstyle with two bigs that can score (in different ways) ... they dont have marion running anymore either so their team gets slower and youre a fool if you thinkthey will run the same style

Double ouch. Where the heck is Bulls GM John Paxson? I've been screaming to trade Ben Wallace to the Suns for the last 45 days.

I remember when I first heard this, I wrote it off. I never thought this trade had a remote chance to go through.

Hmmmm you think so.. It's going to be interesting on how Miami and Memphis play the market game this off-season..

I'm surprised this is going to happen. As a Heat fan, Matrix might provide the SF we need although were pretty much out of contention this year. If thishappens I might be happy.

WOW!great trade from both teams!can't wait to watch Shaq return to the NBA finals!Amare will move to his natural position!
