Shaq trade offical like referree with a whistle (Planet Orange in SHOCK)

I don't fear Snaq Oatmeal if the Lakers face the Scums come playoff time...He's done....

I dont know if marion will stay for the long haul, but he doesnt have alot of miles on him so he might stick around.

I don't why, but I see elton brand coming to the heat in the future...

Kobe stays in LA, LeBron to NY, Wade comes back home to Chicago?

Shaq making it easy for the lakers to come out of west lol ...He just took out one team..

They didn't. They peaked last year with that group.

The ONLY way that this can be good for the Suns is IF they win the championship THIS year, anything less, and this is one of the tremendous failures in the history of sports.

I disagree. They weren't going to win this year, next, or ever with that group...and Marion was gonna bounce anyway. If they have a dropoff, like losingin the first round, I would agree. They had to do something. I just don't think this trade is that bad for Phx. Phx fans, imo, were waaay too confidentin what that team can do.

Now I want to see how great Nash is in the half court. He suffers from turnover-itis when you slow the game down.

Riley looking like a genius.

Ya'll was killing him the past year and a half for so-called selling out the future for one championship, like a championship wasn't worth it. Now,worst-case scenario is the Heat get cap room, the very thing ya'll killed him for. This dude Riley....its gotta be the hair....

Whats gonna be funny, is the Suns lost their SF perimeter defender.... the Suns trade is gonna create alot of bad match ups for them
Shaq cant defend off the pick and roll, Amare isnt great either...so teams that play them are gonna pull one of them out, and isolate the other on the block...Marion crashed the boards... neither Shaq or Amare goes as hard at rebounding as he does....i think this is gonna show how valueable Marion was to that team

only thing im worried about is, Steve Nash....opponents have to have great PG defense, because Nash is gonna get in the lane, and now he is gonna throw alotmore lobs and passes in the paint, compared to kicking out for threes...Marion was a 3 point threat during the drive and kick, now just Barbosa and Bell...

its gonna be interesting to see them play this year, leading into the playoffs.

and also whats kinda good about it is, Kobe & Shaq on the same team in the All Star game next year!!!!

I knew being a die hard Suns fan and moving to LA for school was going to be a tough change but after hearing about this trade Im a little happy that I donthave to watch the suns fall off infront of my eyes. I understand we are in need of defense and we wont win a championahip with our style but what the heck tryit one more time then sign and trade marion at the end of the season if things dont work out. I just dont feel Shaq is the answer. BUT if we actual win it allI will be the first to say i was wrong.

As an NBA diehard fan, this is the best news I have heard since Garnett being traded.

Suns Lakers rivalry now suddenly the best in the game... wow a playoff series between these two would be CRACK!

Its going to be great tv.

Lakers VS Suns in the playoffs and if the lakers get out of the west we could be looking at Lakers Vs Celtics in the finals....

I'm not going to lie, as a Heat fan this saddens me. Marion? I hope they use him to trade for someone else.

I think this is a good trade for the Suns because its not like they were going anywhere with Marion. With Shaq, the Suns can compete with teams like the Spursand Lakers.
However, if Shaq starts to sit out games with injuries, then the Suns are screwed.

I don't get the whole, they peaked with that group, they weren't going to win anyway, Marion was going to opt out arguement.

1. With that group, the Suns are still #1 in the West, even though they're 14-12 against the WC, it's a bit misleading because of the Grant Hillinjury. They were 11-5 in Jan.

2. The Lakers got better with Gasol, sure, but did the Mavericks or Spurs get any better? The Mavericks are still the Mavericks, great regular season ballyear in and year out. Just like the Suns. The Spurs on the other hand have dealt with injuries, and they look a bit older out there this year. As a result, the Spurs just don't look like the Spurs. Not now, anyway.

3. Who's to say the Suns can't win it all with that group? They've gone deep into the playoffs a lot, just couldn't get over the hump. Doesaquiring O'Neal, losing Marion really push them over the hump? Do they really get that much better? That's the HOPE anyway concerning the Suns.

4. Again, when's the last time a big name player opted out, and left his team in the dust? When's the last time a team just let a big name player optout, and get nothing in return? The thing with Marion is, he said what he said in the offseason. Since the season started, he's laced them up, andhasn't said a word. He just went out and played ball. As a result, the Suns are currently #1 in the West. They could have dealt with the Marion issue atthe end of the season. They could have seen how this season went, and then really explored their options at the end of the season. Instead, they got shookbecause of the Gasol deal, and got shook that the Mavericks might have aquired Shaq. (Shaq on the Mavericks would have been

) So, they did what they did.

5. Aquiring Shaq is a big risk. It threatens your team's chemistry, and you basically have to change your offense to accmodate Shaq. And that'sassuming he's healthy enough to even play. And even if he plays, dude has like two years at best left in the tank.

It sure as hell can all work out in the end, but I just don't see the reasoning why they do this trade for who was involved, and why now.

Marion + Wade is a solid nucleus to build around though. Good job Miami.

It should be no surprise that Kerr merely read out loud the writing on the wall. The Suns with Marion are a .500 team against their conference and a sub .500 team against WC playoff teams. Does it get any clearer than this?

Exactly.

im loving it. i believe with shaq, the suns WILL win thechampionship. and when they do, its gonna be funny seeing all these suns fans kissing the feet of the former laker who got them that championship

bunch of hypocrites

as for the suns, you got nash, amare, hill and a bunch of three point shooters. shaq won a chip with wade and a bunch of average three point shooters on histeam. and people doubt that he wont do the same for THIS team?

barring any injuries to shaq, this should put them on top.

Steve Kerr wants the Big Aristotle for the playoff run, he could care less about the regular season..like Shaqs made free throws, Steve Kerr believes Shaq willcontribute when it matters - in the playoffs. The Suns have the pieces for the chip, 2 NBA first teamers, unlike last year's Miami squad.

O'Neal's on-switch

By Steve Kerr, Yahoo! Sports
March 7, 2007Shaquille O'Neal has endured his share of criticism over theyears, particularly regarding his conditioning. He has battled weight issues, taken his time working his way into shape from one season to the next andgenerally disregarded much of the early parts of regular seasons.

One year with the Los Angeles Lakers, he opted for surgery on the eveof training camp rather than having it done earlier in the summer. His reason? Since he "got hurt on company time, he would heal on company time, too."

While you may not be able to count on Shaq's conditioning in October, you can always rely on him to be ready come playoff time. He's proven itthroughout his career with late-season surges that have helped his teams win four championships. Ultimately, when his club needs him the most, Shaq is there. And he's proving it again right now.

With Dwyane Wade injured and not due back for at least a month -perhaps the rest of the season - O'Neal has shaken off a lackluster campaign and is showing more energy than at any point in the last two years. Shaq knowsthat, without his domination of the interior, the Miami Heat can'tsurvive the playoff chase in the East. That's why he has stepped up his activity, demanding the ball and controlling the boards.
b

Over the last seven games - including the loss to Houston in which Wade separated his shoulder - O'Neal has averaged 20.6 points and 10.3 rebounds. After the initial shock of losing Wade, the Heat lost at Dallas and then won four of their next five games. Included in that span was a huge victory overDetroit in which Shaq went for 31 points and 15 boards. After the game, Chauncey Billups remarked that O'Neal is "still impossible tocover."
With season averages of 16 points and seven rebounds, it's clear that O'Neal has flipped the switch since Wade went down. But the effort that Shaqis displaying is about more than numbers. It's about his energy, his passion and the inspiration of his teammates. If you doubt that, turn on a Miami gameand watch the big fella work without the ball. He's moving his feet and working for position, turning back the clock with performances that belie his 35years.

If O'Neal can keep that energy going into April, the Heat should be a lock to clinch a playoff spot. And if at that point Wade does come back, Miamicould be in position to make another title run.

A championship is a long shot. But as usual, Shaq is turning it on when it counts.

Good for the short term, bad for the long term though. If they don't get a championship this season, its over for them.

With this statement made, I now have 100% faith that PHX will win it all this year.

NBAdotcom: "Suns are winning it all this season"=No Championship.

NBAdotcom: "We're done."=CHAMPIONSHIP.

No doubt.

Thats exactly what Shaq is right now, just a big body that's supposed to clog up the lane, his skills have deteriorated, just look at hisstats the past couple of seasons and the Heat's record for proof of that. To top it off, i lose respect for a player that sandbags it in the regularseason. A big body only means something when that player actually plays in games and makes a positive impact on the team. Granted, Shaq is not another KwameBrown or Sam Bowie, but to me, his play (or lack thereof) over these recent seasons dictate what he is going to do for the Suns.
