STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

I don't want yall to think I disrespect anyone who does it. because I don't.

as I said I respect the hell out of the dedication and work ethic.
Cross fit is not easy nor a joke.

but their are people lobbying for it to be an olympic sport. I just don't think that's necessary.....

@JPhysique   Repped, liked, and subbed for the foam rolling video. I've been told countless times to do it. Even had a trainer I'm cool with at the gym show me but I never thought I was really getting it or was even worth it. It felt...too simple I guess? But you made it all look so simple. Pick a body part, and roll. Great video my man. Keep it up.
Damn I appreciate that brotha means a lot! Yea brotha you just can't lift weights I mean you can lol but remember joints need to be warmed up and over time you build a lot of fascia that needs to be soft tissued out(foam roller/lacrosse ball) so the body can recover better. Plus it helps with mobility remember we only getting older :( lol But keep it up bro you'll feel and see a difference big time! I also got a warm up and a upper body band work if you haven't check those out. Those will help to.

So you really respect crossfit though?

Every time I see you post about crossfit, I see variable degrees of anti crossfit slant lol

An athlete in another sport would fail miserably at Crossfit without a significant time to train for it. The skills needed are totally different. Its not just about being in shape.

The point is elite professional athletes would be good at crossfit if they trained for the crossfit games :lol

But no one is walking directly off the field/court and smashing the crossfit games competition :lol

Again. Its an unrealistic situation to say take blah blah. And put him in the crossfit games.

The real situation/question is or should be is if its not as much as a learning curve for any sports player to cross over. And its not compared to a cf athlete going into another sport

I'd be curious if someone like Trent Richardson, who is a bust by NFL standards, took 6 mos to train exclusively for xfit, how'd he fare against some of the sports' best...

*not knocking the xfit athletes, because they're smazing at what they do. I brought up richardson, fue to the fact that eventho he sucks as a RB, he's still a beast of an athlete at the end of the day.

To win at crossfit you gotta be good at everything and not have a weakness. I'm sure these NFL dudes will excel at stuff that have to do with one rep maxes and quick sub 3 minute events.
And don't forget the swimming part, which would eliminate 90% of the NFL

i cant really picture alot of elite baseball players or hockey players flourishing in crossfit.

speaking of race. is crossfit a diverse "sport"

I think hockey players would be beasts at xfit. Endurance is a big part of their games.

I honestly don't see how u can try and say "so and so is a beast he'd kill Crossfit" what makes u say that? He's strong? So are thousands of crossfitters, just look at when max lifts are programmed. He's fast? Besides 2 events at the games how many times are crossfitters sprinting full speed? He's big? Well then he'll suck at the gymastic movements. Yes they're freak athletes but it's much more than that.

People just need to give respect when it's due. A lot of these guys are just beasts. Who gives a **** if their skills wouldn't transfer to the NFL or another sport.

And I don't even Crossfit lol never have. Just respect it.

Speaking of athletes transitioning between sports, what do you guys think about baseball players playing other sports?

Dude on Facebook posted a status about how baseball is the G.O.A.T. sport and MLB players could be decent at any other sport but put NBA, NFL, etc. players at the plate to hit a few baseballs and they'd fail horribly.

I never played baseball outside of middle/high school gym class so I can't really say, but something tells me that's a load of BS.

this. Everything doesn't need to be put under scrutiny.

I think baseball is one of the few sports where you can be a fat *** and get away with it if you have outstanding eye-hand coordination and power.

I'd like to see Prince Fielder on the hardwood.

What kind of hillbilly logic is that?

Match Mike Trout up against Lebron James 1 on 1 and see how that goes. Or Justin Verlander catching passes against Revis. They play baseball over any other sport for the same reason every athlete plays the sport they play; they're better at it.

Yeah, his status started up quite a debate in the comments.

He wasn't saying the MLB players would dominate, but that they'd be competent enough to compete in other professional leagues. It degraded into a bunch of "I play _____ and I'd like to see a baseball player try to _______". But then someone brought up this "study" posted on ESPN that ranked sports by difficulty. It was pretty interesting to me.

It would have to be position specific ie, a bunch of pitchers i see arent an athletic beast but do have pristine hand eye coordination and rockets for arms. Baseball is HEAVILY based on skill

All other sports are to but i think baseball the most

And through watching sports the most versatile athletes always seem to be football players in skilled positions ie DB, RB, QB

If you look back in their historys dudes always getting drafted in some obscure round of the MLB draft or won the state BB championship on a whim lol

I also think size plays a factor. If youre 6'10 your fate is sealed lol, but that 6'0 to 6'2 range you can play anything
