STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

Full body vs. Isolation, is it a matter of effect or preference? Also speed development, how much does size really play into it?

For the most part full body is better for fat loss while isolation is better for sculpting ones body. I do full body for an overall balanced look. I'm not interested in mass

Both. Many people do splits because they find them to be more enjoyable. Some people don't care about strength, they only want to look jacked or ripped. Most people don't like training legs and use splits as a way to decrease the overall number of lower body sessions. Some people have a limited amount of time to spend in the gym and find full body sessions to be the most efficient.

It really should come down to your goals and the amount of time you can afford to spend lifting.

Would tend to agree, assuming one has a base of muscle to sculpt. If you are on DYEL status, upper/lower or full body should be the plan until you look like you lift. The trap that most gym dudes get caught up in is that they hop on the split, which usually favors upper body and mirror muscles, right away.

IMO one should "build a base" using an upper/lower or full body routine based on compound lifts using linear progression first. Once that base has been created, I feel they'll see much better results.

Yeah if you hop in the gym for the first time you better not be doing a bunch of isolation.

Compounds are where it’s at for strength and size with a proper diet. You need a year or two in the gym before you go on body builder mode.

For those that own the horse stall rubber mats, how flexible are they? They are just a touch wider than the opening to my car and I was wondering if I could curve them slightly so they would get slimmer and fit into my car.

if its just a bit longer than your car they should be flexible enough.

but you won't be able to roll em up like you would a joint tho

Is that normal? My shoulder pops and cracks but nowhere near the extent of that. My shoulder has always been like that tho

If the popping/cracking is accompanied by pain...it's some thing you should get checked out.

No pain at all. I probably have all sorts of ailments. My shin be acting up at times. I think I have a bone spur in my shoulder. I'll go to the doctor one day. I wanna get a dexa scan to check out my body fat

If it doesn't hurt I wouldn't stress it. There are so many structures in the shoulder girdle that can make noise. Tendons, ligaments, rotator cuff, AC joint, SC joint, etc.

I would just make sure you're keeping your rotator cuff strong; and balancing retraction movements (rows, bench press, pullups) with protraction movements (landmine press, dumbbell press in the scapular plane, pushups).

So why,.......do you live with certain restraints

What is the reasoning there

In terms of consumption, To put yourself in a position to possibly live as well/long as you possibly can.

Of course, you have no control over what will actually happen but that doesn't mean I shouldn't try my hardest

3x5 OHP 135 lbs last night. Was feeling good until random dude a bit smaller than me asked to work in and reps 7 or 8 without a warm up.
I proceeded to finish my workout across the street at planet fitness where I belong...
