STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

Do y’all thing have a belt is needed or not? I’m on the fence about getting one especially since I deadlift 315 and trying to work back up to 405, had a person tell me if I plan on going heavy I should invest in one.

Optional, just like PWO or intra.

I take at least 2 to the gym, no more than 5, and use them as I see fit.

Never leave home without em.

I feel in the long run a belt is worth it just for the added protection. But that means nothing if you're form is lacking or needs work. Proper form > "Heavy" weight.

Honestly man, just put the belt on whenever you want to, its not going to save you or be some miracle thing, knowing HOW to use it is way more important then WHEN you use it.

a belt isn’t gonna keep you from getting hurt. it’s supposed to serve as more of a reference point to expand the core in to to brace, not to make up for bad form.

i usually try not to throw it on unless i’m doing 80% or above

Do y’all do conventional or sumo deadlifts??

Everyone answer. Please.

I know Sumo is easier.

Thinking of switching over to Sumo.

Nothing worth doing is ever easy...

All jokes aside, it really depends on your anatomy (especially hip width) and goals. I prefer to squat with a narrower stance compared to most and I'm not trying to hit crazy weight when I do DL, so I prefer conventional or deficit trap bar DLs, even though I could probably pull more sumo.

Try both and see what you prefer.

Conventional for me. If it works and produces results, then I stick with it. I don't need to do every variation and lift there is. Depending on ones goals, a lot of what people do in the gym is counterintuitive

Conventional. Sumo never felt right.

Id say neither if youre just training for aesthetics purposes.

I pull both. I never max out on sumo. It’s just an accessory to me.

No it’s NOT, easier for me. Never has been never will be. I can pull 100 more pounds conventional.

Squat and bench tonight.

Squatted 5 singles at 365 tonight then 275 3x8.

Nice.

How long ignore took you to finish all that volume for squats?

People are built differently. For some conventional is easier and for others it's sumo. Either way you're Deadlifting and you're gonna get stronger.

I pull both and I feel I can pull heavier weights safer with sumo.

Wait what

5 belts??

Yes, 5.
1) Harbinger Fit 7.5-Inch belt, velcro: least used, mostly for light work.
2) Valeo, double prong: Mostly for light work, like rows and lat work.
3) Strength Camp 10mm synthetic, lever: Main belt, used for everything except SQ's over 350/DL's over 405.
4) Ader 10mm, double prong: Middleweight. Used for moderately heavy sets.
5) Inzer Forever belt, 13mm: That Mike Tyson. Only used for max effort work, SQ's over 440ish.

Might be the same dude that brings a different pair of sneakers for each exercise

Conventional. Only pull sumo when doing n-Suns or eating butt.

Will max out sumo soon and see which is easier. May end up switching.
