STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

Been sick with a bad cough since last Wednesday. Had to go to the doc for chest x-rays to rule out pneumonia. Haven't been able to workout. Luckily appetite is okay.

Feel deflated and weak though :smh:

Anyone know of any good cough suppressants? I'm on prednisone but I can't get rid of this dry hacking cough.

I remember way back when someone was talking about that MRE powder from Redcon1. Saw it on sale and bought it.

Bruh.. I’m a believer in this stuff. I got the blueberry cobbler and it tastes just like a liquified blueberry nutrigrain bar. The only powder I’ve ever taken that I actually feel like I ate a quality meal.

I’ll be the first to say real food is #1 and the go to. But when I’m in a rush or short on food, this will be my go to.

So a lot of people are moving from pre workout to intra workouts.

I know people do both also but is there a point?

Seems like you have an ego problem. Does making fun of them make you feel better? Srs question

Where do I have an ego problem? You guys get all in your feelings when someone has an opinion. You guys are getting upset over me making comments about celebrities doing extra things in the gym, its not like I made fun of someone personally in here...

This is why this thread ******* sucks now and has been for awhile

Y'all post more lifting stuff and stop worrying about what I say.

If people would just sleep enough, eat enough, recover enough, and vary their workout enough to make it interesting they wouldn’t need it.

Relying on stimulants to get you hype for the gym is not it. Maybe I’m hypocritical because I can’t live without my coffee in the morning (hyperbolic, sure) but I’ve recognized that even that is more of a habitual thing than a dependency.

Gonna give this stuff a look. Sounds interesting. Like switching up my powders.

Lol not being able to live without it is dependency as long as its there

Was just about to say, isn't caffeine a stimulant? lol
Yup lol. A cup of coffee has more caffeine than the last pre workout i took. (Some vegan organic crap that was onnsale on prime day)
Not to be a jerk but he pretty much said. You people who smoke weed are bad...while hes eating edibles.

(Dont come at me bro. I love you)

I don't think he meant it how he worded it but he basically contradicted himself.

Yeah man making fun of people (even though I really didn't make fun of them) on the internet makes me feel better about myself... FOH  I come in here to just to pass time when I get bored and you are acting like i spit in someones face, put your big boy pants on for real, its not that serious.

Post something related to the thread like you lifting...

My lift was flat bench press 3x3 w/225.

No need to take your anger out on me and “my opinion”. Seems like your just mad.

This sounds good if it’s ALL you did but the reality is we normal folk are coming from work and a family. We get a set time window to get it done. You either make sure you have what you need in you or risk a trash workout.

For me personally, yes.

Me and a lot of my dudes in the gym like to go heavy often. We hit macros, we sleep as much as we can, but sometimes work gets in the way. I usually wake up early enough to lift before work, but to be 100% lucid by the time I start lifting, I usually have some type of PWO. I also like the focus I get, be it real or placebo.

Since I don't eat breakfast at 3am-ish and am training for 2+ hours on nothing but a whey+/-carb shake (and yesterday afternoon or night's dinner), I mix a customized intra-workout to keep me from dying.

Could I work out later? Yes, but my energy is usually highest before I go to work. Could I use less intensive/shorter training programs? Yes, but I like lifting heavy and enjoy lifting for extended periods of time. Could I cut the amount of days back? I could, but I don't want to; if I could, I'd be lifting even more.

So for me and my situation, a pre- and an intra- are pretty much mandatory.

Nice, I benched yesterday, shoulder is almost back to 100% Ive been doing incline only for the past month or so and it has helped my flat out a lot.

Nah I understand how that came off. Maybe some poor wording there. My morning coffee is more just part of my routine than it is a necessity for me to function. I know some coffee crazies that have multiple cups throughout the day who really act like they can't live without it. They're the "don't talk to me until I've had my coffee" types. Every so often I miss my morning joe and I'm cool. Actually, a few weeks ago I had one of my best workouts without having it that morning. Go figure. I've built such a tolerance to it over time that I more so just drink it for taste and to avoid those nasty caffeine withdrawal headaches.

Respect

I don't have kids/family responsibilities like that. I don't know that hustle so I can't speak on it.

I just know what works for me and I just prefer to lift without that stuff. I've read and heard the personal testimonials online and from many people I've talked to where they took a PWO and reported all kinds of wild reactions. Heart beating out of their chest, can't stop moving, panicking because they feared they took too much. Like that, to me, isn't worth any added "buzz" or "focus" PWO provides and I think it's a lot of people that really depend on that to get them through a workout especially when they've been taking it for a while and have built a tolerance to it and need to either take more or try something stronger to get the same response.

Yeah I don't have the kids/family exhaustion so I don't need to mess with pre-workout. I even quit drinking coffee 4 months ago.

I was 100% with you on the no pre anything during my college days. My whole life was exercise. Once I was done with sports and full days of work kicked in things changed. The good thing is since I never used the stuff it takes like half a scoop to work for me. Lot of problems with PWO is that people don’t actually read the ingredients and percentages to adjust to their weight. Idiots just taking full scoops becuase it says so lol.

I actually have an extremely low caffeine tolerance so 50mg and im bouncing off the walls
But as ive gotten older and as my day fills out its hard. When i had free time to hit the gym at like 11 or 1 [after 2 meals] i was good.
Now i gotta go either at 5 am with a shake in me. Or at 3 after my day is over and all i want to do is rest.
Married. I cook all meals got a kid...need the energy

Hardest part of the transition from college life to adult life was the eating. I used to be able to eat once every 2 hours. Now I have to force myself to eat a big breakfast, pack a lunch, etc. I’m always hungry :frown:

Not to mention I need to plan a meal with a workout time. Such a pain

Shoulders and legs then swimming. Might throw on 315 next week depending how I feel.

As I'm finishing up with calf raises, this Lil Asian yute walks into the weight room. Man puts on 275 on the squat rack, no stretching no warm up sets. I said this kids either a ******* fool or a ******* Savage. So of course I decide to watch the potential **** show or be impressed.

Kid gets under the bar and I see the struggle in his face...bar doesn't even move. He gets out from under the bar and starts rubbing his shoulder...yaaa that's it man your shoulder

He goes for round 2. Fail again. Third time's a charm but it's a struggle and a half. I coulda swore my man was gonna crumble like when you remove the wrong piece in Jenga. At this point me and the other two people there are starting and waiting for the inevitable. My guys quarter squatting and the look on his face is of absolute fear.

He somehow by the grace of the most high, finished his "set". The one guy there turns to me and says holy **** that's dangerous. Told him yo I'm out I'm not tryna witness a dead body.
