Damn.

I feel like frequent stretching saves me from so many problems. That’s why I ask.
Man, I would stretch here and there.
For some reason I've been stretching everyday, and benefits are phenomenal. For me it was a basic component that I've been overlooking for years.

I'm getting enough.

you lacking in some area that’s causing your body difficulty in recovering. sleep, hydration, eating enough, working on mobility/stability. if all that is on point you’re just over working.

blaming it on age is the easy way out. i’m 40 and move just fine. i know dudes older than me that move just as well if not better than me

getting old is annoying as hell. damn so prone to hyper-extension. can't reach object that you could easily stretch out without issues. felt like your joints are popping out and hurts like damn.

while i can definitely relate & obviously i don’t know your circumstances, from what i can remember from what you have stated in the tread, i would think your various injuries/issues and general low calorie intake/fasting regimen i would think it really difficult for you to move/recover well…age definitely tends to necessitate being a bit smarter about getting warmed up, exercise selection, intensity & recovery but if folk can be considered/intentional/smart about lifestyle choices they can avoid some aspects of the degeneration that comes with aging…

that said, unless folk were slacking in their earlier years, fall off is inevitable

Take a break? Rest?

Not a recovery issue. I made sure to peak for this deadlift the past 10 weeks. Even cut squat volume to only squatting once a week.

I think I need to increase deadlift volume.

Deadlift twice a week. Then cut volume down when it's time to max out

Fax. I was at a point where I kept getting discomfort in my hip flexors every time I would squat. Finally started stretching and I've never had that problem since. My lower back is also nowhere near as tight as it was prior to me making stretching a daily habit

how do/did you know you were at ‘peak’ tho? what was the lift before the attempt & how did it move??

Last warmup was 500 and it moved like air. Normally 500 feels heavy on regular days.

something that has worked for me is using smaller jumps as i approach a max attempt…takes more time & requires more rest in between but maybe it’s mental but it definitely helps me build confidence for getting that max attempt

you may be right partially although I'm saying the age factor in comparison to the frequency of how my body gets injured and the time for recovery now as opposed to 5 years ago. the typical normal routine I used to do doesn't seem to be that normal anymore. it would have made sense if the changes to the routine or keeping my body in shape before were drastic.

the thing is, for example if I rotated my shoulder the way I was doing it since forever, then suddenly one day you just felt some painful tension on those muscles and got you wondering what the hell just happened.

Huh? Ego lifting been around long before tiktok and IG

Made it worse sure, but that behavior been around
point is, it wasn't as prevalent as it is now which has now became a norm or part of culture. I remember back then that going to the gym was primarily to bodybuild. now, common people go there to record themselves and post it on social media. technology and internet certainly made workout as a means for social media exposure. even my son's martial arts instructors are even annoyed by it.

I only watch the stuff on Youtube. Some natsy vids on there when it comes to injuries. Also, some funny stuff as well.

We've probably all ego lifted as some point in our lives. The trick is to smarten up before something really bad happens to you.
