The Official Tennis Thread (Vol. 2024 US Open)

Novak is on another level right now... He outplayed murray in the first set that he lost, got his barrings back, and took the next 3

Great fight by Djoker, but really, I wasn't that impressed with the final.  The tennis was decent, but there just too many errors.  I think it was 100+ between them with Djo leading the way.

In that 2nd set Murray missed too many opportunities on Djo's serve to break... missed a few sitters here and there.  Djo was struggling at the time with his timing and emotions, which was when Andy should have pounced. Instead, he wasn't able to do much... played a few loose points in the tiebreak and before he knew it, it was 1-set-all.

I woke up and watched the match in the 4th set. What injury were the commentators talking about? Was it just the blisters Andy had or was something wrong with his foot too? If it were just the blisters then that sucks for him to get them during the Final :smh:.

Here we go again!

 @ the men's draw.

Not only do we have Nole & Rafa in the same half, Fed has 2 qualifiers in the first 2 rounds followed possibly by Benny, Simon, Tsonga & Ferrer.  Might as well give him a bye to the final.  Incredibly lucky draw for him right there.

It's such a shame cuz Nole & Rafa are clearly the 2 best players right now, by far, (and assuming they make it that far) we will only see them in the semis. Talk about an unbalanced draw.

Watched Serena all the way up until 6-0,3-0 then pressed play on Ana... :nthat:

She has slowed down so much. sheeeeesh

Has she always been this slow of foot? I saw her opponent completely telegraph a drop shot and then it hung in the air forever and Ana still couldnt get to it from the baseline.

Actually, she's lost a lot of weight over the past few years to gain a bit of speed & flexibility, but at the expense of power.  I think she's said that she's been struggling to find the right balance.

All fairness to Martić, some of her droppers were superb.

Still pile-driving those forehands... just missing more now.

Cliche, but just goes to show that on any given day, anyone can beat the best.

Most definitely. I know in tennis people always use the saying "at their best" blank player is the best but players are rarely at their best and can get beat at anytime.

Anyone watching Berdych/Monfils? The pace & power of their groundstrokes...

Anyway... wow, Monfils... Knew it was gonna be tough for Berd, but didn't expect him to lose.  Another big-seed out of Fed's half.
