Just shows once again just how different grass is from clay and how hard the French/Wimbledon double is

Rafa's backhand was so &%*$.  Missing so many shots.

Darcis was good though.  Take nothing away from his performance.

2 weeks between just isn't enough.  Especially for players that go deep into week-2 of the French.

The grass right now is still relatively soft and the bounces aren't that high.  Takes a bit to adjust.

SP, do you remember back in the 90s when clay court specialists from Spain would skip Wimbledon every year because of the surface.

No words.

This is worse than the Rosol upset.

I knew Rafa wouldn't win this tournament, but to go out opening round in straight sets is baffling.

Please rally for the US Open.

the grass makes Nadal an ordinary player

I don't agree.  He's won twice at Wimbledon (2008/ 2010).  He looked tired today leaving everything short with his groundstrokes barely making it past the service line.  Any pro can wipe you out when you leave shots that short on a fast surface like grass.  With only a 2 week break between the French Open and Wimbledon, it's just not enough time to recover from the stress of the clay court season.  I think this makes us appreciate Roger's consistency at grand slams all that much more.  This is truly a great era in tennis, I just wish we had an American in the mix to make it that much more interesting.

I think that was to avoid Becker, Ivanisevic , Sampras & Agassi. Guys literally didnt stand a chance vs their power and speed
