The Official Tennis Thread (Vol. 2024 US Open)

Raonic did pretty well in that Celebrity game. He had a couple air balls, but he did manage to score 10 points (including that dunk up there!) and had at least a couple assists. Genie... well, she had the loudest cheer between her and Milos. That counts for something, right?

She only took two shots and missed both (one of those was blocked from behind). To be fair, no one passed her the ball.

I could be wrong, but don't Venus and Serena have to qualify to play doubles at the Olympics? They haven't played anything together since the 2014 US Open...

Man, Nole sure loves those Barricade 7s. Does anyone here have them who can give a review? Seems like he's been wearing those forever and I would think the newer shoes using the boost material would be much better cushioned, yet he still sticks with the 7s.

Novak looking like he can get into the GOAT conversation.

I would sure think so. Barring major injury, I'd say he's got at least 2-3 years left with a shot at every single major. Frankly, I don't see anyone in the next wave of younger players challenging him for the top spot anytime soon.

My dude TheWindScar31 is a true fan. He feigns hatred of Nole to make sure Nole stays hungry. Excellent approach sir. We don't need Nole to feel like everyone loves him or he will get complacent.

Today is a sad day in tennis history. Scumbag Kyrgios has won his first title in Marseille. He beat Gasquet, Berdych and then Cilic in the final. February 21, 2016 will always be remembered as the day the Marseille title became permanently tainted.

Knowing my luck the one time I'll go watch a live match will be between Djokovic and Kyrgios. I'd watch the whole dang match with my arms crossed and pouting saying passive aggressive comments between change over.

I didn't watch, but it appears the guy played and served really well during the whole week, so props to him for that.  Added bonus was that he didn't act like a complete imbecile.

Welp, Djokovic's streak of 17-straight finals comes to an end. He retired from his match against Feliciano Lopez in the Dubai QFs due to an eye infection. Get well soon, Nole!

Didn't realize it at the time, but if you watch his interviews from a days before, you could tell his right eye was a bit red.

Dubai crowd booed him after he retired... classy.

Lol, Genie in Malaysia... imagine seeing, in real life, an athlete candidly pose next to their ad.
