I've noticed on certain platforms and outlets (not really here) that you have to be careful with how you word your criticism for the swatch x Omega collection. Your immediately accused of being a snob or gatekeepers depending what's said regardless of your intentions

better than just having comments deleted. do any of yous think that this release actually has the potential to raise the price of pre owned Omegas out there? looking a bit like a huge ad campaign TBH. which is what ppl were saying in here the other day, that it'll bring previously outpriced ppl to the brand. wonder how many of em will just opt to buy an old Speedmaster from a Japan fleabay seller.

i think it’ll the same, if anything this might deter people from the real speedy by either settling with the plastic version and quench their speedy desire or they feel it cheapens the brand and stay away altogether

again i recently bought an omega after being undecided for more than a decade… had this been available and i tried it on and it just kind of works with the size then i might have just settled for it and moved on, i am about 80% sure i wouldnt have a speedy right now if i am being honest and i agree its kind of snobbish but image plays a factor and its the reason we dont just buy aliexpress knock offs of the brands we like

this one is omega stamped it’ll be like if payless made AJ11 and it looks exactly the same but no zoom air but jordan allowed it and let them put the logo in there and sold it for $15, a lot of people will buy it for sure and approve of it too because its not a bootleg copy

i see these guys defending the long lines and saying this will bring it kids because they can bond with their dads with a timepiece but are you really gon be able to get this easily for the next year or two?

swatch makes 3mil watches a year but how many can they produce that a moonswatch? i believe the jordan makes 500k-800k AJ 11s on xmas holidays and you sure as hell not gon be able to walk in the store and bond over them unless theyre GS sized and they make these shoes in the hundreds of thousands every week and they almost always instantly sell out and they think these swatches are gon be easy to get? id have to see it on my own and curious if theyre still making moonswatches a year from now

its definitely a marketing genius though and it props up swatch but at what cost for omega?

hmm well if ppl buy the old versions like I think they do they eventually move up to a modern version. must be worth it to Omega, maybe they're hurting for new blood. I will say that I haven't known Swatch to be hot since like the 1980s, I bought a couple of them like 8 years ago but they batteries ran out by 2016. too lazy/busy to take the battery out & figure out what kind to buy as a replacement I'm not a battery enthusiast at all infact I hate buying them.

from what im seeing on watch forums, not many upgrade

ive seen more like they sold the old one because they got tired of it or hated the bracelet but then rediscover it

i dont know if this collab is gon affect that at least not big enough to help omega

at the end of the day, omegas been desparate to be on rolex level (you can tell by the new releases) or be its alternative but with this collab, they take two steps back

ive always been on a stance that omega should stand alone and do their thing because theyre great but they hated being #2 (and #3 last year behind cartier) and why people in omega tried to push back on this collab

im hearing "s-g" means silver and gold so tudor might be leaning towards those materials especially silver so those are going to be interesting to see because they claimed the BB58 silver wont tarnish but it still does and not many were happy with the gold bb58 that cost $17k
