Why do guys laugh at WNBA online?

The product is just not good. The popularity of it tells it all. While I don't make snarky comments about the athletes of the WNBA, anyone can see the league has been on life support for most of its existence. A couple of teams have now gone from playing at NBA venues to practically Rec Centers. The NBA is sustaining its survival. From a PR standpoint, they can't ever let it die.

I think a lot of these dudes are underestimating professional WNBA players. These women still need to practice and work on their game regularly to be able to play basketball at a professional level, even if that level isn't quite the same as men's. Sure, they probably won't be able to dunk on you, but they can probably handle the ball well enough to cross you over or shoot well enough to beat you in a game of 1-on-1.

WNBA is 1-2 years away from having the first Trans player.

Juwanna Mann was the clue they gave us.

All failed NBA players gonna turn trans and play for the WNBA and dominate.

One can acknowledge the effect that the physical disparity between male and female athletes has on mixed sex competition and still recognize and respect the athleticism of the female athlete.

It can be hard to appreciate the how much the effect the physical disparity has on sport without seeing it first hand. There's countless stories of the coaches of elite women's college basketball teams playing training games against average male intramural players and getting the business.

The U.S. Women's national team has a history of playing training matches agains the U15 and U16 U.S. Youth Men's national teams. It's particularly interesting in soccer because it's a game that places so much more emphasis on skill and game insight to the point where physical superiority can be negated to a degree that it can't in basketball and even then the physical difference between sexes is to great after the onset of puberty, even when looking at elite male adolescents vs elite female adults.

There was a champion women's professional soccer team based in the Bay Area a few years ago. It was a collection of the best players in the female game, including the undisputed best female player of all time in her prime, Marta. I watched them play a local U18 boys team, maybe a handful of players from that team would be going on to play a collegiate soccer at any level including Juco. It wasn't really a contest. You could tell Marta was on another planet in skill and intelligence but it was weird as hell not seeing her dominate.

Their play is almost irrelevant because we know enough of them can HOOP, but truth be told, most casual fans of the NBA aren’t watching for the basketball, it’s the showcase of super-athleticism and alpha-male energy. The WNBA has neither of those.

That's why the WNBA sucks. It's not the athletes it's the sport.

Soccer is a sport much more conducive to commercial success for female athletes. Watch, in 20 years it's going to achieve the same kind of commercial viability as women's tennis. The physical disparity between and women has no effect what so ever on how the game is played or its aesthetics. As women (girls) in soccer gain more equity in terms of the quantity and quality of resources and training at youth level compared to their boy counterparts, the women's professional game is going to continue grow and shrink the gap in appearance relative to the men's game.

1998: Karsten Braasch vs. the Williams sisters[edit]
Another event dubbed a "Battle of the Sexes" took place during the 1998 Australian Open[52] between Karsten Braasch and the Williams sisters. Venus and Serena Williams had claimed that they could beat any male player ranked outside the world's top 200, so Braasch, then ranked 203rd, challenged them both. Braasch was described by one journalist as "a man whose training regime centered around a pack of cigarettes and more than a couple bottles of ice cold lager".[53][52] The matches took place on court number 12 in Melbourne Park,[54] after Braasch had finished a round of golf and two shandies. He first took on Serena and after leading 5–0, beat her 6–1. Venus then walked on court and again Braasch was victorious, this time winning 6–2.[55] Braasch said afterwards, "500 and above, no chance". He added that he had played like someone ranked 600th in order to keep the game "fun".[56] Braasch said the big difference was that men can chase down shots much easier, and that men put spin on the ball that the women can't handle

I swear some dudes type on here as if their wives are looking over their shoulders.

Everyone (in this thread) has acknowledged how skilled WNBA players are.

We know Stop stating the obvious for brownie points man.

Can’t help but imagine something similar would happen if Rondha Rousey went ahead and boxed Mayweather. Her own mother thought that was a bad idea

The WNBA skill level isn’t better than the leading 7th and 8th grade boys AAU team.

Them kids be catching oops and dunking.

Way more entertaining.

Let the girls fight like Hockey
Lower the rims to 8ft
10fouls per game
Each team can have 1 male player on the court at all times.

Yeah i notice these kinda comments as well

The misogynist attitude is the root of it basically. Even straight up envy. Every other comment is how that person would embarrass these girls on the court. Like why is that even on your mind?

A woman shouldn't be playing hoops professionally if she can't dunk or block a shot into the stands is what a lot of these dudes think. She should be spending her time doing something else turns into well she belongs in the kitchen jokes just for the likes and laughs on IG.

You dont see it with other sports well because basketball is the second most popular sport in our culture. No one cares about tennis like they do basketball.

someone said before "when it comes to online people will thrash things anonymously, you should know this already"I got the answer to this thread, thanks guys
