Kinda off topic but there's is article where Kobe talks about the defenders he's had most trouble with. He names Tony Allen , Bruce Bowen, and Raja Bell as some of the most difficult. Within that article, there a video of Raja clotheslining the ish out of Kobe(I think 2006 playoffs) and Kobe shortly gets up and brushes it off afterwards. I wonder how some other superstars in the league would've responded to that hit lol.

thats fact though. These guys were going at the best wing offensive players ever night. Bron never had good man to man defensive instincts. Dude would bite on hesi's and pump fakes and cross overs like crazy.


The narrative was always that bron can guard 1-5. That was always hogwash. Maybe the 3 & 4 sure, some of them. But not elite 2s, def not elite 1s, and he was foooooood on 5s.

my biggest issue with all the metrics is that it doesn't include some sort of measurement of 1-on-1 effectiveness. kobe was clampin up the primary ball handler along the perimeter most nights..and when he wasn't, his off- ball defense was solid.

and by no means do i say this to disparage lebron's defense, just saying, kobe was a far above average defender for a good minute.
