Roberts made it life long mission to kill the Voting Rights Act. When he worked for other Republicans, even they disagreed to with his stance it was unconstitutional.

Every story you see, about an “exodus” of “refugees” leaving California, involves conservatives building a narrative that simply isn’t true. Conservatives want it to be like the novel “Atlas Shrugged” where the brilliant entrepreneurs decides that they can’t take all the socialist meddling in the economy so they take their talent to Galt’s Gulch and the society they leave behind collapses.

Conservatives imagine CA, NY, MA as Ayn Rand’s dystopian USA and Texas and Florida are reimagined as Galt’s Gulch. Of course, the opposite is true. California is not suffering from brain drain or capital flight, if anything we’ve got too many tech bros and too many investors flocking to the Golden State and that combined with a constructed housing supply has made housing very expensive. That expensive housing drives most moves out of California.

In some cases, people retire and sell their home and move to lower cost of living places. In other cases you have workers who can make about the same amount anywhere so it makes sense to move where housing is more affordable. Some companies do move because lack of affordable housing makes it harder to recruit. There has been net out migration from California but rather then people fleeing a moribund economy caused by socialism, we see how useless a hot economy is when it’s benefits are so unequally distributed. And quite frankly, I and millions of Californians would love to see a lot of tech Bros **** of California and hopefully home prices will drop and people won’t have to make 200k just to buy a home in the city that they grew up in.

Our best hope is for all the wannabe Elon Musks decamping to anywhere but here.
