Never really liked this. So being Arab means you're not a "decent family man, citizen".

i feel that way too but to me the more impactful aspect of the moment was that McCain wouldn't let his opponent be smeared. that to me was the primary intent, although it implied what you're saying. it would've been better if he added, "not that there's anything with being Arab," but I'll take what i can get from Republicans.
