I hope you guys understand how devastating this supreme court appointment is. This will be historically bad for generations of people. I haven't been this disgusted as I am in this country in a while.

This is unambiguously bad but it doesn’t have to be bad for generations to come. It doesn’t have to be bad for years. If Democrats grow a backbone, this Right Wing Court’s current makeup may have its lifespan counted in weeks.

Trump got 3 justices in 4 years. And he didn't even win the popular vote. And none of his 3 nominations received more than 55 votes in the Senate.

If we succeed in giving Democrats a trifecta, here are the following things I don’t want to hear in 2021 and 2022:

- relay race
- heal the divides
- moral arc is long
- red state Democrats
- budget deficit
- future generations
- bipartisanship

If they don’t overhaul the courts, rebalance the senate, pass a super charged voting rights act, card check, stimulus, extended UI , restore and expand consent decrees and legalize the vast majority of undocumented people, then there is a high probability that marginal voters will be discouraged, the GOP will take back Congress, gum up the works and continue their project of minority rule.

We’re voting with urgency in 2020 but Democrats better govern with even greater urgency in 2021.

Republicans may have made a huge mistake with this nomination. They win the battle because it’s a for life appointment.

But they really opened up a Pandora’s box for the Democratic Party on the eve of an election that they may get Presidency, flip the senate and keep the house.

History says the Democratic Party won’t use the leverage. But Trump has pushed the party further left and willing to have mainstream players use political capital in new ways.
