STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

deadlift & squat same day = same session for you or different sessions in the same day? do you give priority to one of the lifts to be fresh(er) for?

i’ve pretty much accepted that i’m going to be inconsistent with my protein intake, i just don’t have the appetite/discipline be getting into triple digits daily…what is the number you’re shooting for?

did some box jump variations, still experiencing a lingering phantom pain in my right quad, been dealing with it for a couple months now & can’t figure it out

I'm curious as to when that phantom pain of yours started? Maybe I can give some suggestions.

One day I hit a squat si gle, the other day I hit a deadlift single.

Around 140g of protein per day.

ah, ok…so on a squat focus day what do your deadlifts rep look like?

it was on a day where i would do a few hill sprints, light plyometrics, and then a low rim dunk session…on that day everything was cool…then i landed funny on a backflip but was still fine going through my usual warmup getting shots up but when i started to get into my jumps i would get a sharp sort pinching sensation in my right quad and i just cut the session short right there…doesn’t hurt at all in most activity just sometimes went jumping and on with some squats. if i fully/hyper extend my knee i can also feel a softer sensation

sounds like a partial tear. I would take a rest for now if I were you. I remember when I had a partial abdominal tear caused by someone charging at me. took a month before the sharp pain went away.

anyway, if you want to be sure, an MRI could determine that. an Ultrasound scan would only see if you have some swelling. I remember the weeks prior to tearing up my calf muscle, I was experiencing some mild discomfort and short sharp pain along my calf region.

Trying to squat better out the hole.

Doing pin squats for the first time today. Wow these are tough. Makes me realize how much I rely on the bounce/stretch reflex.

Updates to the gym.

90% done.

Just gotta get a ceiling mount for the bikes.

I've had 2 friends tear their acls mixing lifting with basketball.

Be safe
Guess this what happened to me with my calf muscle. Although when I was younger, it wasn't a problem. I was mixing swimming, gym work and basketball. The only thing that I was feeling then was the sensation of fever like symptoms once I get home. Hot and burning sensation throughout the night.

🤣 man’s got the front porch screen on the garage! sweet setup tho!!

I imagine I could. Actually held up decently well.

Only thing that I really can't do anymore is jump off the ground. Might try to do some box jumps to improve on that though.

box jumps might help, tho you probably want to work on your change of direction/quickness with like short lateral hops too, you’ll see more translatable movement to hooping with those; getting quicker will help with jumps too

Injured my right side of my groin halfway thru my workout today while shadow boxing. Had to leave early and will rest until my next workout day on Saturday. Hopefully will be 100% then.

caffeine fueled prs this morning, thought i had 315 front squat after hitting 285 x2, no go…stalled it and barely get back to parallel, grinded out a 405 back squat tho, & almost deadlifted 510 x2; progress!

Good work bro. Id look at getting some lifting shoes if you gonna use the plates under your heel. Prob a safer alternative if you gonna keep going up in weight.

that’s maturity right there, still working on the that myself…too often i’ll convince myself to do too much just because i made the trip to the gym

yea, people have definitely recommended lifting shoes but i really prefer socks over shoes for lifts…plus on the principalities of always being an aficionado for multi purpose sneakers…i can’t justify buying them just for lifting 😂

PICTURED: Savannah chiropractor accused of leaving woman, 28, paralyzed after 'snapping four arteries in her neck' as Georgia Southern graduate's mother says she's starting to regain some movement in her leg and arm - and gave her a thumbs up

Yea... Another reason why I have nevered trusted a chiropractor

while I understand the concern regarding this form of medical practice, it does hold true with any forms of medical practices. be it pharmacists giving the wrong medication or doses, doctors performing or misdiagnosing conditions and others. not trying to defend the malpractice but rather saying that it is a risk regardless of which medical practice is performed. that is why we are always given waivers if ever certain issues arises. of course, this is different from total negligence which pretty much void the waiver safeguard.

it is tough getting a competent doctor, dentist, physiologist, chiropractor and others. in my entire history of going to chiropractors, I have only encountered 2 out of 10 practitioners that were able to fix my problems.

just went for a 1 hour hike yesterday under a bit of a tolerable hot weather. the trail wasn't that bad but I'm so worn down that I would rather rest today at home rather than go to my gradual return to work.
