The College Basketball Post

This year has been brutal, even as a fan its tough to watch the games
Unfortunately I think CBB fans can start to expect more of that...with all these young freshman getting so much hype and attention and playing time, it is letting down fans when they are expecting so much more. I've been saying all season that this year's KU team leaves me wanting to much more and I think you can say that about college basketball all around this year...there isn't a GREAT team that is above everyone else and even the teams at the top of the list aren't that great. 2013 Louisville, 2012 Kentucky would beat this year's "best" team easily.

I respectfully disagree on coaches coaching to keep their jobs...I think that a lot of young freshman are put into college to develop their games for the pros...Idk how you could say Barnes, Rice, and Self are "idiotic" coaches (offensively)...I think you're just frustrated these freshman aren't allowed to just do their "thing." ...I think that would cause a lot of issues with players mentally heading into the league. If a coach said "here Bennent, Wiggins, Thompson, Cory, etc, take the ball and we will run pick and roll for you and let you do your thing." ...how does that make them better? Maybe I am misunderstanding but idk how you could say certain players don't develop their skills being coached by some of the best coaches in the country. ...Am I understanding you correctly?

I will agree with a 30 or even 25 second shot clock though...

Bill Self is not maximizing the ceiling of his talent, he is minimizing risk.

He runs a rigid offensive system to minimize mistakes, the high-lo motion offence you see in high schools, got the double post ball reversal stuff, everything is about getting one of the big guys to seal his man off in the post so he can catch and finish.

He is purposefully trying to limit the amount of decisions the kids have to make. On both offence and defense they are as conservative as possible.

I understand why Bill Self does this, in a single elimination tournament, or just the nature of dealing with college kids, they make mistakes and you get upset and when you combine that with having one of the best *** court advantages and good recruiting classes every year; you can ride conservatism to a lot of big ten championships. Limiting your mistakes is probably smart decision.

Its bad for NBA prospects, its bad for people who like interesting basketball but its great for Bill Self, and KU fans.

Its no accident that big time perimeter recruits kind of under performed or it took Thomas Robinson being traded twice to stop posting up and focus and start being a pick and roll player.

Rick Barnes is a horrible offensive coach this is common knowledge, he can coach the **** out of some defense, but unlike self makes dumb late game decisions.

Bill Self ain't pro coach, the guys I mentioned are.

They buid concepts around the talent they have and they trust talented players to make mistakes but improve and eventually maximize their skills,

Coach K, "system" aint the same for Bari as it was for JJ Redick.

Jon Belien "system" is different for Caris Levert and Stauskas then it was for the Trey Burke centric squad.

WIggins and Embiid would learn NOTHING from coming back, neither will any elite prospect really.

Okay, I gotcha.

Only things I would say is what about the players Self did develop...Chalmers, Rush, Withey...I mean Self isn't the only coach that has top level perimeter recruits underperform and turn into nothing...that's everywhere and not just in college basketball. You see it in college football all the time as well.

You mention K and Belein changing their systems...why would Self change something that has worked and gave him 10 straight Big 12 titles, 5 Elite 8s, 2 Final 4s, and a National Championship?

What Cal is doing hasn't worked in the past two years either.

I respect your opinion, but think you're really overanalyzing a lot of it.

Yall talking about CALIPARI and yahoo's bogus? LOLZ.

Calipari's system promotes egos, and when they implode, they implode.  The TWIN EGOs are affecting the team and it's obvious.

CALIPARI: "WHY ARE YOU THE STARTER here at UK?"  "DO YOU DESERVE to be here?"

All the beat-down leads to a negative recourse when things don't work out.  Too many one and dones and too many using UK as a quick bridge to the NBA.

At the end of the day, KU writes his checks. Don't really think he's obligated to appease anyone EXCEPT KU and their fanbase and get wins, whatever way possible.

Myles Turner, Luke Kennard, and Chase Jeter all taking officials to Durham for the UNC game saturday.

Harry Giles will be there(probably his 8th game in the last 2 seasons), jayson tatum, Jahlil will also be there so I'm sure he'll be in Myles ear the whole time

Doesn't Giles live in Carolina?

8 visits in 2 years.
lives in my city, yes. Just an estimate. Has visited more than 8 times, just counting recent games but deflect away from my point

I know how you homer with Duke recruiting, my guy. I've seen it over the past 3 years in here. You finally started getting **** right with Bari and Okafor.

Hey, Duke insiders just got their **** together, thats all. I never made outlandish statements regarding anyone other than Travis/McGary, and I wasn't the only one with MM.

Don't think I said anything about Giles visiting X amount of times meaning he was coming to Duke. Kid is the next big thing here since CP3 and damn near went to my alma mater instead of Weslyan. I'll pull for the kid even if he goes to Carolina

Harrison Barnes, Kevin Love

The Duke homer recruiting predictions run deep in here.

To be fair y'all have basically no offensive talent besides Ross and he's inconsistent

IU getting themselves back on the bubble. If they could somehow beat Michigan away this weekend, they are def. right there with a win or two in the Big10 tourney.

Harrison Barnes, Kevin Love :lol  The Duke homer recruiting predictions run deep in here.

Please jog my memory but who in here had Love going to Duke? I definitely don't remember any of that tomfoolery.

Harrison Barnes tho? This place almost went up in flames that Friday of his news conference.
