those not voting check in

Ppl ask me why didnt i vote and i tell em my vote doesn't matter electoral votes are what count. And they go on and on about it does matter blah blah blah. Its annoying. It doesn't , shut up jeez.

dont ever take your vote for granted.

people died and suffered for your right to not vote if you want.

registering to vote puts you in the system
nerd.gif
selective service once you hit 18 does that.

There's probably no excuse but I will say a full time schedule at school and a full time job can be demanding. I was really uniformed on the issues. I rather study than research all the politician views. Voting for me is like a test and I did not study for this one. I was well read for the 2008 election though but I had allot more time to prepare then too.

Cynics
If you don't want to vote for the president, that's fine. I mean you can always go green and help push a new agenda.....
It's understandable but what about local officials and propositions and such? Those do matter and you can make a difference.
It bothers me that are so caught up with the presidential candidates but are totally clueless who is running within their own town/county/etc.

My vote added 1 point to the popular vote of all the choices I bubbled in.
Can you answer my o.g. question?

I feel that for not voting I'm making more of a change rather than voting and part taking with our corrupt system. I simply answered the OG thread question. Don't try to make an argument with this, "patriotic voter."

How is not voting making a difference? If you're a law abiding citizen, you are taking part in the system. Reason being is because you will have to pay for the choices the president makes or the props. that a majority of people want passed.

Patriotic voter? Far from it. I was just curious about your stance.

IMO, not voting is helping the "corrupt" system that you dislike so much.

Ohio takes another L in this thread

I'm not the biggest fan of the voting system either, I still voted though. If you aren't voting, then at least come up with a better system and push for that.

I also used to think my vote didn't matter, but that changed this year. I live in Arizona, a state that is seen as overwhelmingly Republican and conservative. Having been here almost my entire life, I can assure you that this is not true. Most of the younger generation ( 18-25) are very liberal in their ideologies. We have a large Hispanic population that leans towards the Democratic side of things. The problem is the majority of both groups have their voices drowned out because they don't vote. They don't have a say in the policies of the state because they choose not to participate. Its like Prop 8 in CA a couple of years ago. How can a state that is supposedly liberal vote against gay marriage? Because those young liberals aren't voting.

My vote for Obama didn't count because I live in a "red" state. Hell, my vote for most of the local props were unsuccessful. At the very least I can say I did my part

Yep. Didn't vote. But I failed myself. The only two local things that I cared about did not pass. That's on me, partly.

i'd actually vote under this scenario (if voting against republicans). Local issues aside, it makes less sense to vote if im voting for obama lets say in a perennial blue state like NY.

I am not a registered voter....so obviously didn't vote.

I don't like participating is a system that I do not believe in. If you don't believe in something you don't have to voice your opinion to prove it you just walk away from it and lead by action. The amount that was spent on campaigning and the commercials and the personal slander the whole process is embarrassing. I agree with policies of both sides but I refuse to vote for the lesser of two evils when an option to not vote is present.

From a local standpoint i had no stake in anything that was being voted on (MD). I do believe gays should have the right to get married and i guess they can build a casino in MD that has table games...but i don't gamble...so it really doesn't effect me.

No matter what policy is in place or what president is in office. I wake up every day and try to live my life to the fullest. I try to achieve my goals. When i do it is great when i don't I just try harder. In my 25 years of living a president has yet to hinder me from doing that.
