***Official Political Discussion Thread***

I swear I have to pinch myself sometimes, cuz some of this stuff doesn't seem real.

Outside of New York, DC and California there is quite a bit of diversity of thought as it relates to black voters (aside from the typical tie to the Democratic party and/or the progressive agenda). I see this a lot with young black professionals. Im in a groupme with a lot of my fraternity brothers and we discussed this warren student loan reimbursement. Majority of people in the group wouldn't even qualify for it.

A supposedly black man reacts to that

but doesn’t react to the stupidity those 2 women said

Meanwhile what regularly happened to black people under Jim Crow

I don't have to prove my blackness to you. I live it; It doesn't wash off. And I don't need old black and white photos to demonstrate the horrible way black people have been treated in this country because, again, I live it.

Always odd how non-black folks on niketalk seem to know the most about black folks and how they should feel about everything. Crazy right?

Still not one word about the atrocities committed during Jim Crow...

nor the stupidity of those women

I've responded. If you think calling them stupid somehow uplifts black people then go for it.

Perhaps you would do better to think about their perspective and what got them to that point as black people in America.

D&S are trash opportunist that get off from offending blacks people to please white people. No shock there.

Now I’m seeing people say this guy on MSNBC gonna sink Trump. It ain’t and if you think it will, you ain’t been paying attention the last four years.

Crazy how different this country would be if the right didn’t actively suppress votes. That FL poll tax is bananas. Mofos stay cheating to win b/c they can’t win on substance

:smh: :smh:

**** off some people are just stupid end off. Anyone comparing what this administration is going through to jim crow is a damn idiot and I could not care less about what got them to that point.

Has yet to actually address the stupidity of what those women said...

I didn't address it how you wanted it to be addressed. I made a statement about how you, and other non-black people on here, feel entitled to opine on how black people should feel and think about things. That's absurd in my opinion. But do you.

Now I’m not black...

still has not addressed anything said by those women in defense of a rich old white man

 Like they have a legitimate perspective outside of cashing in on being wonky black supporters for the right.

And your GroupMe must be full of dudes making an insane amount of money because most people qualify for something under Warren's plan. Doesn't mean that you get your loans fully forgiven.

I can’t lie it’s hilarious seeing this tap dancing fool get ethered every time I come
I’m here

I just don’t think he’ll ever get it

I don't know how you don't call this theft:

:emoji_laughing::emoji_laughing::emoji_laughing:
These folks sit and wait and beg for a president to save them with menial jobs then cry socialism on basic **** that would benefit everyone like healthcare and education. Yeah, they really are stupid.

My group is full of young black professional men who married other young professionals.Warren’s plan completely cuts off anyone with a household income above 250k.

You say you are a corporate lawyer. Even in-house you should be at half that on your own (or very close if not). But maybe you feel you make “an insane amount of money” as well.

Ah, so it's the married part that disqualifies people. Your description is a little misleading. Most people individually will qualify.

And yes, based on the community I grew up in and what my parents make combined, I think that I get paid an insane amount of money. It's not rocket science or brain surgery, just a cog in the machine to fuel corporate greed.

It's funny how you ignored the D&S point while trying to legitimize their perspectives as something to be understood.

GOP being the party of white identity politics aside, it's hard to understand how anyone short of those bringing in high 6-7 figure incomes are interested in voting that way

they have nothing new to offer. no new ideas. no plan for healthcare. their core economic belief is a fallacy that's proven to be false the past 40 years

so what is it? the tiptoeing the line of theocracy? the absolute rights for corporations at the expense of the average worker? is the $2K less in taxes really what it's all about?

Her plan doesn’t say individual income.

And fair enough, if you make an insane amount of money then let me hold something, lol.

And I’m not legitimizing the substance of what they are saying. But their perspective is legitimate and I see it from old and young black people alike.

I don’t think that calling them stupid is uplifting or productive, and I think it is what causes a lot of the division. Then, when Donald Trump is re-elected and the percentages come in by demographics, everyone acts shocked. This, their perspective, is what a lot of other black voters feel.

Agree or not, based on the constant coverage against Trump he has become somewhat of an “underdog” candidate. Despite being a billionaire white man. It’s ridiculous substantively, but the media has helped create it.
