The Official NBA Collective Bargaining Thread vol Phased in Hard Cap

There were several other tweets from Arison that also likely drew ire. When another fan asked Arison what he thought about Clippers' owner Donald Sterling, he replied with a simple "lol."

That's what its been about right from the start. Money wise, if the players gave in and missed no games, they'd be better off than getting a better deal and missing 2 pay checks. If that happens, not only are the owners straight bullying the players (making them concede everything plus 10+% of BRI) but it sets a horrible precedent for the future. As soon as the CBA expired, the owners would bully the players again, maybe bring em down to 35% BRI. Maybe next time they force unguaranteed contracts? Lower the max? Yeah, the players are holding out on principal. As much as it sucks, missing games and potentially devaluing franchises and alienating fans is the only thing that can scare the owners. If they aren't willing to do that, they might as well never negotiate with the owners and just let the owners decide the CBA every 5 years.

Of course they are! The moment they lost a game check (which happened as soon as Stern canceled the first two weeks), any further holdout is on principle. That's why I said players are only taking L's from here on out. It doesn't matter whose side you're on at this point; the players are getting their !%#*% handed to them at the end of all this. Forget the numbers and arguments as to why the players are holding out and focus on the reality. The rank and file will overpower the stars based on what's coming (or not coming) in now, and it'll be over sooner rather than later. Happened in '99, and it'll happen now. It's a new era of the NBA.

And in 9 years the owners will cry again

That's why they r holding out. You can't make it easy for the owners to win so big

With an initial offer of 37% I'd be emotional too

Even in NY why would STAT be in an apartment?
Buying would make much more sense in that situation. If his rent is in the 50k area what was he thinking?
Either the NY apatment was a luxury for when he played, and he is making a smart move, or it was a luxury that became too costly, and he should have bought.

Adrian Wojnarowski RT @YahooSportsNBA: Union in-fighting threatens to derail labor deal with NBA. Blame Billy Hunter for that. http://yhoo.it/w5gcEH

I also noticed that Blake Griffin ended a tweet today -- not related to basketball -- with #endthelockout
